CAC Community Leaders
More than 63 million American adults are caring for a family member at home, in part because many traditional programs and facilities within the aging-services system have become inaccessible, inadequate, inappropriate, or unresponsive to the realities families now face.
As a result, caregivers in the community are often left alone and adrift for years. Many families carry caregiving tasks and responsibilities that can become overwhelming without practical support and trusted connection.
It does not have to be this way. Older people, other family members, caregivers, neighbors, volunteers, and local resources exist in the community. CAC helps community organizations bring those people and resources together so families can find help, share information, and coordinate care more easily.
Right now, helping families manage the challenges of aging may be one of the most important things a community organization can do for its members.
What CAC Enables Community Organizations to:
- Help their members meet the challenges of caregiving.
- Use existing organization communication channels, such as newsletters and member outreach, to make the program available.
- Create a natural community network of their caregiving members.
- Engage community volunteers, trained by CAC, to support the program.
- Enable community caregivers to connect with one another and receive training, information, and support.
- Become even more important in the lives of their members.
- All at no cost or risk to the community organization
